Beta: Group Admins: How It Works Guide

Written by Blackout

Adding a new admin

  1. Navigate to the management dashboard

  2. Go to the Admin section located on the side bar on the left

  3. Click Add Admin (top right)

4. Enter the person's email address. They don't need an existing account, they get invited if they have no account.

5. Choose their role: Company Admin or Group Admin.

6. If you choose Group Admin, assign them to a group. You can pick an existing group or create a new one on the spot (for now, assigning a group is mandatory).

7. Click Add. The new admin now appears in the admin table.

8. All views (Management Dashboard, Assignments, Reporting) are scoped to the groups of the group admin.

What happens after you invite someone?

The new admin receives an email invite to the Management Dashboard. Once they log in, their view is scoped to the group(s) they were assigned to.

What a group admin can do

Group admins have most of the same capabilities as a company admin, just scoped to their own group(s). They can create assignments, create content, and track individual members' progress, the same way a company admin would for the whole account.

  • Management Dashboard: aggregated across all groups they admin (if they have more than one).

  • Analytics: to look at performance for one specific group or one specific person, use the selector in the top left to pick the group or individual.

  • Assignments: scoped, but with one nuance, a group admin may see assignments that other admins created for the same group members, since members can be assigned to by more than one admin.

  • Progress: always scoped strictly to that group admin's own group members, regardless of who created the assignment.

  • Adding and removing members from a group. However, group admins can not give out licences and also can not create new groups.

Adding an admin to an existing group

Right now, this also goes through the Admin section, click Add Admin, same as above, select the role and assign them to a group. There's no shortcut yet directly from the group page. (This will be streamlined soon)

Changing a company admin to a group admin

Also a workaround for now: go to AdminAdd Admin, enter the existing admin's email address, and change their role to Group Admin. (This will be adjusted soon, a direct edit option is coming.) Afterwards, delete the Company Admin role from the dashboard.

Seeing who admins a group

Go to the Group section. Each group shows its assigned admin there.

Right now a group has one admin at a time (Assigning multiple group admins to the same group will be adjusted soon).
