Site Bans

Unfair Advantage | Account Boosting
Any activity intended to artificially inflate a user's ranking, progress, or achievements- such as having another person complete rooms, challenges, or tasks on their behalf, or otherwise bypassing the intended learning process is strictly prohibited. Users found engaging in such behavior, or in any conduct deemed offensive or in violation of platform rules, will have their account permanently banned without notice.

Discord Server Mute

If you have been muted in the TryHackMe Discord server and would like to appeal the decision, this article explains how to contact the correct team.

Who Handles Discord Mutes?

Discord mutes are managed directly by the TryHackMe Discord Moderation Team.

Our Support team is not able to remove Discord mutes, as moderation actions are handled separately within the server. To request a review of your mute, you will need to contact the Discord moderators directly.

How to Contact a Discord Moderator

Please follow these steps:

1. Open the TryHackMe Discord Server

Make sure you are logged into Discord and inside the official TryHackMe server.

2. Open the Member List

On desktop:

  • Look at the right-hand sidebar

  • If you don't see it, click the member list icon (top-right corner)

On mobile:

  • Tap the server name at the top

  • Select Members

3. Find the Moderators Role

Scroll through the member list until you see the section labelled:

Mod - This section lists all active moderators

4. Message a Moderator

  • Right-click (desktop) or tap (mobile) on any moderator's name, choose a moderator who is currently online (indicated by a green or yellow status)

    • Send a polite direct message explaining you are appealing a mute

    • Please contact one moderator at a time

If you do not receive a response within 48 hours, you may contact a different moderator from the list.

Important Notes

  • Please do not message multiple moderators at the same time

  • Appeals are reviewed at the discretion of the moderation team

  • Being respectful in your message will help your case be reviewed more efficiently

  • Support cannot override or expedite Discord moderation decisions

Response Times

Moderators may not be immediately available. Please allow reasonable time for a response. Sending repeated messages or creating new support tickets will not speed up the process.

Banned Account

If you have been banned from one of the TryHackMe Communities (primarily Discord or the Sub-Reddit), do not panic.

Ban appeals are handled via specific email. Please send a message to [email protected] with the following details:

1. The community you were banned from (Discord, Sub-Reddit, etc.)

2. Your username on the community..

3. Why you think you were banned, if it was not made explicitly clear beforehand.

The team will follow up and get back to you as soon as possible. Good luck!
