Troubleshooting - Keeping Your Team Engaged
While in an ideal world usage would be perfect and engagement is consistently high, this may not always be the case. We often see clients get off to a very good start once their licenses begin, as to be expected when your team get access to a new platform with fun content!
However, as can often happen with anything, once the novelty wears off and other work commitments pop up, usage can begin to decline. Here are some things to try if you are finding it hard to keep your team engaged.
Assignments
We suggest assigning smaller pieces of content more regularly, as assigning 3 x 40+ hour learning paths can be overwhelming and feel like a huge amount of work.
Constant progress towards an overall goal is often a more powerful way to keep learners motivated and on track
Assign content that is relevant to your organisation’s security priorities - We can work with you to uncover this
Competition & Incentives
Weekly, monthly and quarterly competitions are a great way to increase usage. Use the Reports tab to track completion percentage, time spent or questions answered over a time period.
Hold learning lunches or CTF Fridays to create a team element to training
Utilise the CTF Builder to create CTF events for your team
Set up or take part in King of The Hill games - you can join public games or create private ones for your team
Share the Workspace leaderboard internally, for example in your SOC - this helps generate healthy competition and keeps the team accountable
Reward top users with prizes!
Promotions and career development
Linking training to career progression is one of the most successful ways to keep a team engaged. For example - in order to be promoted you have to complete the SOC L1 learning path
Utilise Personal Development Plans with each member of your team - read more here
Feedback Loop
If someone is not enjoying what they are learning, this will make it difficult to continue.
Encourage your staff to provide feedback on the training they are taking part in, and allow them to choose some of their direction.
Give your team the opportunity to present what they have learned and discuss the training together.
